Final clash for superb U13's

Matlock under 13's have reached the Derbyshire County Cup Final for the first time. As part of the National, 'Spirit of Cricket' tournament aimed at U13's, the Matlock lads will play in the final on 23rd June at Denby Cricket Club after battling through two matches on Bank Holiday Monday.

   In the Northern Area section Matlock played Quarndon in the quarter-final and then went on to beat Apperknowle in the semi-final and in the end won both games comfortably, despite a few wobbles on the way.

   In both games Matlock were asked to bat first and each time posted in excess of 100 runs to set their opponents challenging targets. Then they responded with tight bowling throughout each of their opponents' innings and this, complimented by superb fielding which resulted in seven run-outs during the day, was more than the opposition could handle.

   This was a true team effort where everyone contributed throughout and leaves the lads waiting to find out who were the winners of the Southern Area play-offs and therefore their opponents in the final.
