Academy Style Cricket Training

John Birch of the John Birch Cricket Academy (www.johnbirchcricket.com) has agreed to act as Matlock Club Coach.

John Birch   He is a former captain of Nottinghamshire County CC and played as an all-rounder with the likes of Sir Gary Sobers, Richard Hadlee, Clive Rice and Derek Randall. He has coached the England U19s, young county cricket players and several Nottinghamshire clubs.

   John's remit is to inspire confidence in the players who form the Matlock CC senior teams and assist them to reach their full potential.

   This will be done through a structured training programme covering technical skills (batting, bowling and fielding), physical fitness and MENTAL STRENGTH.

   The two-hour programme will be available every Thursday evening at our Causeway Lane ground between 6-30 & 8-30pm and is open to all club player-members who wish to take advantage.

   It is a pay-as-you-go programme with a fee of £5 per session, (not a final figure as this is to be calculated according to the numbers attending).

   If you are not already involved and feel that you should be – then join in on Thursday night.
