Matlock defeat Castleton to
reach Orme Shield Semi-Finals

Matlock made the long trip up to the Hope Valley to play the picturesque village of Castleton in the midweek Orme Shield competition.

This was Matlock's first visit to Castleton where they eased past their opponents to reach the Semi-Final.

Matlock won the toss and were soon scoring at 10 an over thanks to openers Martin Leatherday (22) and Jonathan Stapleton (34). The Matlock openers set the tone for the innings as the rest of the Matlock batsman continued scoring at 10 or more runs per over. Eddie Lowe (48 not out), Mark Burton (36) and Andy Roberts (25 not out) all helped Matlock reach a formidable total of 182 for 5 off their 15 overs.

Castleton's reply got off to the worse possible start as Ed Lander bowled superbly well claiming the first 4 wickets of the innings in an impressive 3 over spell. Castleton never recovered and were soon bowled out for 63. Ed Lander didn't add any more wickets and finished with 4 and he had good support from Graham Bell (3 wickets), Rob Lowe (2 wickets), and Alex Lawton (1 wicket).

Matlock now progress through to the Finals week at Bakewell where they play their Semi-Final game on Monday 6th July where they hope then to make it to the Final played on Friday 10th July .
